What arrived at the lab

The SanDisk USB flash drive arrived at our Lincroft, NJ lab from New York with physical damage reported on the ticket. At intake, we photographed the device, logged it into the case system, and kept the customer's media isolated from other work on the bench. The outside condition was treated as handling damage until the drive could be inspected under the scope and tested without adding stress.

Bench work on the SanDisk USB flash drive

On the bench, we inspected the SanDisk USB flash drive under the microscope before applying power. We tested it with lab hardware instead of forcing repeated connection attempts through a normal computer port. Once the device was stable enough for read work, we imaged the data to healthy lab media and worked from that image, not from the original flash drive.

Drives that arrive like this usually point us first toward the physical path between the USB plug, the circuit board, and the flash memory. The usual suspects are stressed connector joints, lifted pads, cracked traces, or access problems that require board-level micro-soldering before imaging can proceed. With flash media, the goal is to reduce every unnecessary power cycle, because unstable access can turn a recoverable job into a harder one.

The recovered result

The recovery result was Data recovered. After imaging, we verified the recovered data against the file system that could be read from the image and prepared the files for return on healthy media. For mail-in cases, recovered data is sent back to the customer, and the original device remains the damaged source rather than the place anyone should keep using.

If yours looks like this

If your SanDisk USB flash drive has physical damage, stop plugging it in and do not try to straighten the connector while it is powered. Keep the pieces together, avoid consumer recovery software, and send the drive in as-is so the first work happens under magnification. Our flat 100 diagnostic is applied toward the recovery, with no data, no charge. The diagnostic answers everything before any decision.

Every case is different. Results depend on the physical condition of your device, so we never promise a percentage or a guaranteed outcome. Diagnosis is a flat $100, applied toward your recovery, and if there is no data recovered, there is no charge.
