What arrived at the lab
The Seagate external hard drive arrived at our Lincroft, NJ lab after being shipped in from Arizona. The reported symptom was file system corruption, so we treated the drive as a data recovery case before any repair attempt. We photographed and logged the device at intake, then opened it on the bench for controlled handling, keeping the original media out of normal use while the recovery path was planned.
Bench work on the Seagate external hard drive
We performed a visual inspection under the scope, checked the external enclosure and drive interface, and tested the drive in a controlled lab setup. For hard drives that arrive with file system corruption, the usual risks are unstable reads, directory damage, partition damage, or a failing drive that still appears to connect. We did not treat the file system as the only problem until the hardware side had been checked.
We imaged the Seagate drive to healthy lab media and worked from that copy instead of leaning on the customer device. That is the safer path for cases like this, because repeated scans against the original drive can make a weak hard drive worse. After imaging, we verified the recovered file structure and checked usable data before preparing the return.
What the recovery result meant
The outcome was data recovered. In practice, that meant the recovered files were verified from the lab copy and prepared for return to the customer on healthy media. The customer did not need the original Seagate drive repaired to get the data back.
If yours looks like this
If a Seagate external hard drive starts asking to be formatted, shows file system errors, or stops showing normal folders, unplug it and avoid repair utilities. Mail-in customers nationwide can send devices to our family-run lab with UPS 2nd Day Air shipping both ways, insured, anywhere in the US. The 100 diagnostic is applied toward the recovery and answers everything before any decision.
Every case is different. Results depend on the physical condition of your device, so we never promise a percentage or a guaranteed outcome. Diagnosis is a flat $100, applied toward your recovery, and if there is no data recovered, there is no charge.
