What arrived at the lab

The microSD card arrived at our Lincroft, NJ lab after being shipped in from Georgia. The reported symptom was simple and serious: the computer did not detect the card. We photographed and logged the case at intake, then opened it on the bench for the first inspection. With flash media, a no-detect condition can mean the card is not presenting itself to the host at all, so we treated it as a recovery case from the start.

Bench work on the microSD card

We inspected the microSD card under the scope, checked the contacts, and tested how it responded outside the customer environment. We cleaned and evaluated it for signs consistent with contamination or liquid exposure, then moved into controlled imaging work rather than repeated computer attempts. For flash cases, protecting the original media matters because unstable cards can degrade further when ordinary devices keep retrying reads.

Cards that arrive like this usually point toward a few broad failure paths: damaged contacts, controller trouble, degraded NAND behavior, prior stress from phones or adapters, or contamination at the interface. We did not need to assign a public component-level claim to explain the result. The lab path was to stabilize access as much as the media allowed, image recoverable areas to a healthy drive, and work from that image for verification.

What data recovered meant

The outcome was data recovered. After imaging, we verified the recovered data from the working copy rather than relying on the failing microSD card. The recovered files were prepared for return to the customer on healthy media, with the original card kept out of normal use so it was not asked to keep reading after the recovery work was complete.

If yours looks like this

If your microSD card is not detected, stop trying new adapters, phones, cameras, or recovery apps. Do not format it, initialize it, or keep reinserting it to see if it comes back. MDRepairs handles mail-in cases nationwide with insured UPS second day air shipping both ways. The $100 diagnostic is applied toward recovery, and the diagnostic answers everything before any decision.

Every case is different. Results depend on the physical condition of your device, so we never promise a percentage or a guaranteed outcome. Diagnosis is a flat $100, applied toward your recovery, and if there is no data recovered, there is no charge.
