What arrived at the lab

The drive arrived from Washington DC as a mail-in Samsung USB flash drive with liquid damage reported on the ticket. We photographed and logged the device at intake before any bench work began. The outside condition was treated as only part of the story, because liquid-damaged flash media can look ordinary while still having contamination under the shell, at the connector, or around the board.

We opened it on the bench, inspected it under the microscope, and tested it in a controlled way instead of repeatedly plugging it into a computer. For this failure family, we cleaned for liquid exposure before imaging, then worked from the most stable read path available to a healthy drive.
