What arrived at the lab

The box was opened at our Lincroft, NJ lab, and we logged the MacBook storage device as a liquid damage recovery ticket. We photographed the intake condition, recorded the customer label details, and kept the device separated from routine media until it could be inspected. Nothing about a liquid case was treated as safe to power casually, because MacBook storage can be damaged further when residue or moisture is still present.

Bench work on the MacBook storage device

We opened the device on the bench, inspected it under the microscope, and tested only what could be checked without adding avoidable stress. For liquid damage work, the first concern is not speed. It is control. Drives that arrive like this usually need board-level judgment before any recovery attempt, because corrosion, residue, shorted rails, or unstable communication can make a normal read attempt risky.

We cleaned the affected areas for liquid damage, stabilized the recovery path, and imaged the MacBook storage device to a healthy drive. The usual suspects in cases like this are damaged contacts, contaminated board surfaces, and electronics that behave differently once current is applied. We treated the original media as evidence, not as a working storage volume, and worked from the image wherever possible.

What data recovered meant

The outcome was data recovered. After imaging, we verified the recovered file structure and prepared the recovered files for return to the customer on healthy media. As with every completed case, the goal was not just getting a device to respond, but making sure the recovered data could actually be handed back in usable form.

If yours looks like this

Do not keep trying to power on a liquid damaged MacBook storage device, and do not charge it to see if it wakes up. Keep it powered off, avoid heat, and call 732-933-7717 before more testing is done. Our flat 100 diagnostic is applied toward the recovery, and it answers what is recoverable before any decision.

Every case is different. Results depend on the physical condition of your device, so we never promise a percentage or a guaranteed outcome. Diagnosis is a flat $100, applied toward your recovery, and if there is no data recovered, there is no charge.
