What arrived at the lab
The Maxtor external hard drive arrived at our Lincroft, New Jersey lab from New York because it would not boot. We opened the box, photographed the device, and logged the ticket before any bench work started. The symptom stayed with the case file from intake through testing, so the job was handled as a data recovery matter, not as a repair for reuse.
Bench work on the Maxtor external hard drive
We opened it on the bench, performed a visual inspection under the scope, and tested the drive through our lab process before moving toward recovery work. For hard drives that arrive with a no boot symptom, the usual suspects are not limited to one cause. Cases like this can involve enclosure electronics, drive level faults, firmware behavior, head or media trouble, or power related issues.
We treated the original drive as evidence and worked from the recovery path instead of repeatedly trying to mount it. When a drive can be stabilized enough for imaging, we image to a healthy drive and verify the recovered data from that copy. If liquid damage is present on cases in this family, cleaning is handled before further testing. Board level micro soldering and cleanroom work are part of our real lab process when the condition of a drive calls for it.
The result
The outcome was data recovered. After imaging and verification, the recovered files were prepared for return to the customer on healthy media. For mail in customers, recovered data ships back through our normal insured UPS 2nd Day Air return process anywhere in the US.
If yours looks like this
If your Maxtor external hard drive will not boot, stop trying different computers, cables, and power cycles. Do not open the drive outside a lab. Keep the device powered off and call 732-933-7717. Our 100 diagnostic is applied toward the recovery, with no data, no charge, and the diagnostic answers everything before any decision.
Every case is different. Results depend on the physical condition of your device, so we never promise a percentage or a guaranteed outcome. Diagnosis is a flat $100, applied toward your recovery, and if there is no data recovered, there is no charge.
