What arrived at the lab
The drive arrived from Massachusetts as a Samsung USB flash drive that was not detected by a computer. We photographed and logged it at intake, then opened the job on the bench in our Lincroft, NJ lab. At that point the useful fact was simple: the host computer was not seeing the device, so the work had to start with flash-side testing rather than normal file browsing.
Bench work on the Samsung USB flash drive
We inspected the Samsung USB flash drive under the scope, checked the connector area, and tested the device through our normal flash recovery path. When a USB flash drive arrives with this symptom, the usual suspects are physical stress at the connector, controller trouble, NAND access issues, contamination, or damage that keeps the device from completing a normal handshake with the computer.
We cleaned for liquid damage as part of the standard process when the condition called for it, then worked from the safest access method available instead of repeatedly plugging it into a customer computer. We imaged the recoverable data to a healthy drive and treated the original USB stick as evidence, not as a storage device to keep retrying. That distinction matters with flash media, because drives that arrive like this usually do not benefit from repeated power cycles or repair attempts outside the lab.
What the recovery result meant
The outcome was data recovered. We verified the recovered data after imaging, then prepared the recovered files for return to the customer on healthy media. For mail-in customers, recovered data can ship back through our insured UPS process, and the original device is no longer relied on as the working copy.
If yours looks like this
If your Samsung USB flash drive is not detected, stop plugging it into different ports, adapters, TVs, or repair utilities. Do not format it, heat it, bend it, or keep testing it for a different result. Send it in for a 100 diagnostic applied toward the recovery, and that diagnostic answers everything before any decision.
Every case is different. Results depend on the physical condition of your device, so we never promise a percentage or a guaranteed outcome. Diagnosis is a flat $100, applied toward your recovery, and if there is no data recovered, there is no charge.
