What arrived at the lab

The RAID 1 array arrived from Georgia after an array failure. We photographed and logged the intake, then opened the package on the bench and kept the member drives in order. Nothing in the ticket called it a deleted-file job or a simple access issue; the symptom was the array itself failing to mount reliably, so we treated every disk as evidence for rebuild.

Bench work on the RAID 1 array

We inspected the hardware under the scope, checked connectors and boards, and tested each member drive before any recovery work. When a mirrored array arrives in this condition, the usual risks are mismatched drive health, stale mirror data, controller metadata problems, or one disk copying damaged data back onto the other. We handled the work drive by drive instead of asking the original array to repair itself.

We imaged each readable member to healthy media and worked from those images. For RAID 1 cases, that keeps the original disks out of repeated stress while we compare the mirrors, reconstruct the usable volume, and avoid trusting a single device until the file system can be checked. If liquid or contamination is present, cleaning is part of the lab path before deeper testing. That process gave us a controlled recovery path for this failed array.

What the recovery result meant

The outcome was data recovered. We verified the recovered file structure before return, then prepared the recovered data on healthy storage for the customer. For mail-in customers, completed recoveries go back through insured shipping, with the same no data, no charge policy applied if recovery is not possible.

If yours looks like this

Do not rebuild, initialize, replace drives in sequence, or let the RAID controller run a repair until the member disks are imaged. Power it down and keep the drives labeled in their original order. Our flat 100 diagnostic is applied toward the recovery, and it answers everything before any decision.

Every case is different. Results depend on the physical condition of your device, so we never promise a percentage or a guaranteed outcome. Diagnosis is a flat $100, applied toward your recovery, and if there is no data recovered, there is no charge.
