If your drive spins but isn't recognized, the issue is likely firmware corruption, a failed PCB (circuit board), or damaged service area on the platters. Dead motor, failed PCB, or damaged preamp. We diagnose the exact point of failure and either replace the component or transplant platters to a functional assembly.
Physical impact displaces the head assembly, damages the preamp, or causes immediate head crash. Severity depends on whether the drive was spinning at impact. Never power on a dropped drive.
Deleted data remains on the platters until overwritten. We image the drive at the sector level and use file carving and file system reconstruction to recover files, folders, and directory structures.
NTFS, HFS+, ext4, and other file systems can become corrupted from improper shutdown, power loss, or bad sectors. We reconstruct the file system metadata to restore access to your data.
Hard drives run internal firmware stored in a service area on the platters. When this firmware becomes corrupted - from bad sectors, power events, or manufacturing defects - the drive may not be detected or may lock up during initialization.
